SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve? Founders generate more ideas than they can build, and without a consistent filter they waste time on weak ideas or re-litigate killed ones. This Skill pressure-tests any new business, product, or side-project idea against a serial-founder framework and produces a clear build / sleep-on-it / pass verdict. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Nine-Dimension Scoring: Scores problem, audience, wedge, monetization, moat, portfolio fit, distribution, energy fit, and opportunity cost with strong / OK / weak / unknown verdicts. - Research & Domain Checks: Optionally triggers deep-research for market validation and checks .com domain availability for candidate names. - Searchable Archive: Writes every brief to a dated archive with an INDEX.md so past verdicts and rationale stay searchable. - Use Case: You have an idea for a SaaS tool for newsletter operators. Run the brainstorm to score it against your existing audience and portfolio, check the domain, and get a verdict with a first-100-customers plan or angles to steal for existing properties. ## Quick Start Ask the agent to pressure-test your new business idea using the business brainstorm framework and give you a build, sleep-on-it, or pass verdict.

FAQPage Schema
How do I validate a business idea before building it?

Run the idea through a structured scoring framework covering problem severity, audience access, monetization, and distribution. This Skill scores nine dimensions, flags unknowns for research, and outputs a build, sleep-on-it, or pass verdict with rationale.

What framework does this skill use to score business ideas?

It uses a nine-dimension filter defined in references/framework.md: problem, audience, wedge, monetization, moat, portfolio fit, distribution, energy fit, and opportunity cost. Each dimension gets a strong, OK, weak, or unknown verdict that maps to a final decision rubric.

Can it check domain availability for my business name?

Yes, the workflow always runs a domain check on working names and can brainstorm five to ten candidate names. It reports whether each .com is available, taken, or listed at an aftermarket price.

Does it do market research automatically?

Only when needed. If two or more dimensions score as unknown, it offers to trigger a deep-research skill for market size, competitive landscape, audience signal, and pricing benchmarks before finalizing the score.

Where are brainstorm results saved?

Briefs are archived as dated Markdown files under ~/.config/makerskills/business-brainstorm/archive/ with an INDEX.md summary. Archives are never written inside the skill folder, so upgrades do not erase them.

When should I not use this skill?

Do not use it for marketing ideas for an existing product; that belongs to a marketing-ideas skill. It is designed for deciding whether a new business should exist and whether you can win it, not for promoting something already built.
