SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Cost estimation for projects is often slowed by manual, error-prone processes, leading to uncertain budgets and delayed approvals.

Core Features & Use Cases

Structured estimation: Generates a breakdown by WBS with direct, indirect, and contingency costs.
Versatile methods: Supports analog, parametric, and bottom-up estimation approaches.
Output documentation: Produces a formal CostEstimate.md with totals and line-item details suitable for stakeholder review.

Quick Start

Provide the project name and estimation scope to generate a Cost Estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions about cost-estimate

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create a structured project cost estimate with a WBS breakdown?▼

To create a structured project cost estimate, you provide the project name and scope to generate a budget baseline broken down by WBS components, including direct, indirect, and contingency costs. The output is a formal markdown document with totals and line-item details.

What is the best way to document project cost planning for stakeholder review?▼

Documenting project cost planning is best handled by generating a formal CostEstimate.md file that enforces documented methodologies and contingency settings. This output provides stakeholders with transparent totals and detailed line-item breakdowns for review.

Can I use analog, parametric, and bottom-up estimation methods for project budgeting?▼

Yes, you can use analog, parametric, and bottom-up estimation methods for project budgeting. The estimation process supports all three approaches to accommodate different project scopes and produce an accurate budget baseline.

Does automated cost estimation support risk contingency settings?▼

Yes, automated cost estimation supports risk contingency settings. It enforces documented methodologies that include contingency configurations within the WBS breakdown, ensuring the final budget baseline accounts for project risk allowances.

What do I need to provide to generate a project cost baseline?▼

To generate a project cost baseline, you need to provide the project name and the estimation scope. This input allows the structured estimation process to automate the budget baseline and produce the formal cost documentation.

When should I use bottom-up estimation instead of parametric cost estimation?▼

You should use bottom-up estimation instead of parametric cost estimation when you need detailed line-item cost breakdowns across WBS components. Parametric estimation is typically applied for faster, parameter-driven budget baselines, while bottom-up suits granular planning.
