SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill provides a structured methodology for researching and validating changes in the dotfiles repository, ensuring that proposed changes are well-researched, evidence-based, and effectively documented.

Core Features & Use Cases

Research Methodology: Offers a systematic approach to investigate issues, propose solutions, and validate changes within the dotfiles repository.
Evidence Bar: Assesses if a single mechanism can explain all observations, including negative ones.
Predict Before Run: Encourages stating expected outcomes before conducting experiments.
Idea Lifecycle: Tracks the adoption and retirement of ideas, ensuring all changes are documented.
Adversarial Refutation: Promotes cross-model review to validate mechanisms and designs.

Quick Start

To initiate a research process for a potential change, use the command: 'start-research "Investigate the cause of the X issue in dotfiles"'

Frequently Asked Questions about dotfiles-research-methodology

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I validate dotfiles changes before applying them to my repository?▼

You validate dotfiles changes by enforcing a structured research methodology that requires evidence-based analysis and adversarial review. This approach ensures proposed repository modifications are systematically documented and tested before implementation.

What is an evidence bar in dotfiles repository maintenance?▼

An evidence bar in dotfiles repository maintenance assesses whether a single mechanism can explain all observations, including negative ones. It provides a validation threshold to ensure troubleshooting changes are thoroughly verified.

How do I start a research process for a dotfiles troubleshooting issue?▼

You start a research process for a dotfiles troubleshooting issue by triggering a specific command that initiates an investigation into the problem. This launches a systematic approach to propose and validate solutions.

Why should I predict expected outcomes before running dotfiles experiments?▼

You predict expected outcomes before running dotfiles experiments to establish a clear baseline for validation. This practice ensures observed results directly test the proposed mechanism and prevents confirmation bias.

Does this research methodology support tracking the lifecycle of dotfiles ideas?▼

Yes, this research methodology tracks the lifecycle of dotfiles ideas by documenting the adoption and retirement of changes. This ensures all repository modifications are effectively recorded over time.

What is adversarial refutation in dotfiles change management?▼

Adversarial refutation in dotfiles change management is a cross-model review process used to validate mechanisms and designs. It ensures proposed repository changes withstand rigorous scrutiny before integration.
