SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

The design philosophy codifies Emil Kowalski's approach to UI polish, component cohesion, and motion decisions to create interfaces that feel intentional and refined.

Core Features & Use Cases

Guidance on consistent animation strategies, timing, and transitions across components.
A framework for evaluating UI code in reviews, audits, and design-system work to improve perceived quality.
Practical principles that inform how to design, prototype, and iterate interactions that feel natural and cohesive.

Quick Start

Review your current UI codebase and apply these principles to enhance motion, accessibility, and visual harmony in your next sprint.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create consistent UI animation and motion guidelines for a design system?▼

Create consistent UI animation by codifying timing, transitions, and motion principles across components. This framework ensures cohesive interactions and natural perceived quality throughout your product surfaces.

What principles should I use to evaluate UI polish during a code review?▼

Evaluate UI polish during code reviews by applying a framework focused on animation cohesion, timing consistency, and accessibility constraints. This identifies visual friction and improves intentional design harmony.

How do I improve perceived quality and visual harmony in my existing UI codebase?▼

Improve perceived quality by auditing your existing UI codebase for inconsistent motion and timing. Apply disciplined design principles to iterate interactions until the interface feels intentional and refined.

Does this UI motion framework work for both small components and full design systems?▼

Yes, this UI motion framework applies across product surfaces ranging from small individual components to full design systems. It scales to support prototyping, code reviews, and comprehensive design audits.

What accessibility and performance constraints should I consider for UI animation?▼

Consider accessibility and performance constraints by applying practical build rules for motion that ensure usable interactions. This framework addresses these limitations directly to maintain consistent UI engineering.

When should I not use complex CSS animation in my user interface?▼

Avoid complex CSS animation when it compromises accessibility or violates performance constraints. Apply disciplined motion principles to ensure transitions remain cohesive without degrading the user experience.
