SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill provides a central hub for decoupled communication between nodes in Godot 4.3+ games, eliminating the need for direct node references and improving code maintainability and performance.

Core Features & Use Cases

Global Signal Hub: Acts as a singleton for emitting and receiving signals across unrelated nodes.
Typed Signals: Supports structured data transmission with typed signals and resources.
Use Case: Integrate this Skill into your Godot project to manage game events, such as player health changes, score updates, or item collection, without direct node references.

Quick Start

Register the EventBus autoload in Project Settings, then emit the 'player_died' signal when the player character dies: EventBus.player_died.emit().

Frequently Asked Questions about godot-event-bus

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I decouple node communication in Godot to avoid direct references?▼

To decouple node communication in Godot, you can use a central event bus singleton. This hub allows unrelated nodes to emit and receive signals without direct references, improving code maintainability and performance.

What is an event bus and how does it work for game development?▼

An event bus is a global signal hub that acts as a singleton for broadcasting and receiving signals across unrelated nodes. It handles structured data transmission for in-game events without requiring direct node references.

Can I use typed signals with structured data in Godot 4.3?▼

Yes, you can use typed signals with structured data in Godot 4.3. The event bus supports typed signals and resources, allowing structured data transmission for in-game events across both GDScript and C#.

How do I emit a global signal when a player dies in Godot?▼

To emit a global signal when a player dies in Godot, register the EventBus autoload in Project Settings, then call EventBus.player_died.emit() from your player character script to broadcast the event.

Does the event bus pattern work with both GDScript and C# in Godot?▼

Yes, the event bus pattern works with both GDScript and C# in Godot. It implements a decoupled communication system using Godot signals that handles event broadcasting and reception across nodes in both languages.
