What problem does it solve?

Provides a structured, realistic interview setup for assessing a candidate's ability to design and reason about microservices architectures, including domain boundaries, data management, communication patterns, and resilience.

Core Features & Use Cases

Phase-driven interview flow covering decomposition of monoliths, service boundaries, API composition, and saga-based data consistency.
Guidance on boundaries, data ownership, orchestration vs choreography, and resilience patterns like circuit breakers and bulkheads.
Access to problem banks, adaptive difficulty, rubrics, and interviewer notes to deliver consistent evaluations.

Quick Start

Begin Phase 1 immediately by greeting the candidate and asking the first design question.

Frequently Asked Questions about microservices-architecture-interviewer

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I evaluate microservices architecture skills in a system design interview?▼

You evaluate microservices architecture skills using phase-driven interview prompts that test domain modeling, service boundaries, data ownership, and resilience patterns like Sagas and circuit breakers. This provides structured scoring rubrics and adaptive difficulty for consistent candidate evaluation.

What's the best way to structure a microservices interview for platform architects?▼

The best way to structure a microservices interview is through a phase-driven flow covering monolith decomposition, API composition, and saga-based data consistency. It includes guidance on orchestration versus choreography and resilience patterns, along with interviewer notes for consistent delivery.

Can I assess domain-driven design and service boundaries during an interview?▼

Yes, you can assess domain-driven design and service boundaries by presenting scenarios that require candidates to reason about decomposition and data ownership. The skill provides problem banks and reference resources to guide domain modeling evaluations.

How do I test a candidate on saga patterns and circuit breakers?▼

You test candidates on saga patterns and circuit breakers by prompting them with resilience scenarios that require designing distributed data consistency and fault tolerance mechanisms. The skill supplies adaptive difficulty and scoring rubrics to measure their reasoning.

Do I need a specific environment to run a microservices system design interview?▼

No specific environment is needed as the skill operates with phase-based prompts and interviewer notes to guide the conversation. You simply begin Phase 1 by greeting the candidate and asking the first design question.

What are the limitations of using predefined prompts for microservices interviews?▼

Predefined prompts focus specifically on microservices decomposition, data management, and resilience, meaning they may not cover unrelated system design domains. The adaptive difficulty and hint systems help tailor the scope, but the evaluation remains anchored to domain boundaries and saga patterns.
