SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Story systems and dialogue architecture are often treated as separate layers from gameplay, causing misalignment between narrative moments and player agency. This Skill provides a cohesive framework to design, document, and implement narrative systems that integrate with gameplay across multiple engines.

Core Features & Use Cases

Dialogue node formats, voice pillars, and lore architecture templates that ensure consistent character voice and world-building.
End-to-end narrative workflow including branching design, environmental storytelling, and narrative-gameplay integration.
Clear documentation artifacts (world bible, lore maps, and integration matrices) that engineers and designers can use to implement and test narrative systems.

Quick Start

Describe your game's core mechanic and theme, and ask me to draft a narrative framework, branching map, and environment storytelling plan.

Frequently Asked Questions about Narrative Designer

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I design branching dialogue for video games?▼

Design game narratives by creating dialogue node formats and branching structures that align story with gameplay. This framework provides node maps and voice pillars to ensure player choices integrate consistently across linear, open-world, and roguelike games.

What is environmental storytelling and how does it fit into game design?▼

Environmental storytelling embeds lore into level design rather than cutscenes. This Skill generates environment storytelling briefs that align world-building with gameplay mechanics, ensuring narrative context is discovered naturally through player interaction.

Can I use this narrative design framework for open-world and roguelike games?▼

Yes, the narrative design framework supports open-world and roguelike games. It develops narrative systems with branching logic and lore architecture specifically tailored to handle the varied player progression and exploration styles of these game genres.

How do I document lore architecture and world-building for a game development team?▼

Document lore architecture by generating structured artifacts like world bibles and lore maps. This workflow produces YAML-frontmatter driven entry points and integration matrices that engineers and designers can directly use to implement and test narrative systems.

What's the best way to align story and gameplay to maintain a consistent player experience?▼

Align story and gameplay by developing narrative systems that bridge dialogue design with mechanical player agency. This approach enforces structured node maps and integration matrices, preventing narrative moments from conflicting with gameplay actions.

Do I need YAML frontmatter to author and test branching dialogue structures?▼

Yes, the workflow requires YAML-frontmatter driven entry points to author and test branching dialogue structures. This structured format ensures dialogue nodes and environment storytelling briefs integrate cleanly with game engines.
