FAQPage Schema

What is platform engineering and how does it improve developer experience?▼

Platform engineering treats infrastructure as a product, building shared internal developer platforms that provide self-service capabilities and golden paths to accelerate software delivery and improve DevEx.

How do I build an internal developer platform using a product management approach?▼

Adopt the platform-as-a-product model by organizing dedicated platform teams to manage compute, CI/CD, data, and observability domains, applying maturity models to guide operational reliability and developer experience.

What are the four pillars of a platform engineering strategy?▼

The four pillars of platform engineering strategy are Product, Development, Breadth, and Operations, providing a structured framework for designing, building, and maturing shared engineering platforms.

How do I organize platform teams for self-service infrastructure?▼

Structure platform teams around core infrastructure domains like compute and CI/CD, empowering them to operationalize self-service infrastructure and establish golden paths for development teams.

When should my organization adopt an internal developer platform?▼

Adopt an internal developer platform when engineering complexity slows delivery, requiring structured platform strategy, operational reliability, and self-service infrastructure to restore developer productivity.

What operational domains should a shared engineering platform cover?▼

A shared engineering platform should cover common infrastructure domains including Compute, CI/CD, Data, and Observability, applying operational best practices to ensure platform reliability.
