FAQPage Schema

How do I design a customer referral program?▼

Start by identifying high-intent trigger moments such as after an aha moment or milestone, then choose a share mechanism like in-product sharing or personalized links. Finally pick an incentive structure: single-sided, double-sided, or tiered rewards.

What is the difference between a referral program and an affiliate program?▼

Referral programs reward existing customers for recommending your product to their network, offering higher trust but lower volume. Affiliate programs pay ongoing commissions to creators or partners who may not be customers, delivering higher volume with variable trust.

How do I calculate the right referral reward amount?▼

Use the formula: Max Referral Reward = (Customer LTV x Gross Margin) - Target CAC. Typical rewards range from $10-50 for B2C, $50-500 or 1-3 free months for B2B SaaS, and custom amounts for enterprise deals.

Which tools work best for SaaS affiliate programs?▼

Rewardful integrates natively with Stripe for affiliate tracking, while Tolt and FirstPromoter are built for SaaS affiliate management. PartnerStack and Impact suit larger partnership networks, and Dub.co handles link tracking and attribution.

Why is my referral program getting low conversion rates?▼

Low conversion usually comes from a weak landing experience for referred users, insufficient incentive for new users, or an invisible referrer endorsement. Improve the referred-user onboarding flow and test stronger double-sided incentives.

How do I prevent referral program fraud?▼

Combine technical measures like email verification, device fingerprinting, and delayed reward payouts with policy rules such as referral caps and reward clawbacks. Requiring referred users to take a meaningful action before payout blocks most self-referral abuse.
