FAQPage Schema

How do I identify and score risks across multiple projects in a portfolio?▼

Portfolio risk identification involves gathering project risk registers and historical data, then scoring probability and impact on a 1-5 scale to calculate overall risk severity. This process surfaces cross-project dependencies and correlations that single-project risk registers miss.

What's the best way to maintain a RAID log for portfolio-level risk management?▼

RAID log maintenance tracks risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies across your project portfolio. Update it regularly with new risks from Gate reviews, mitigation status, and cross-project impact assessments to keep stakeholders aligned on portfolio health.

Can I use portfolio risk management for PMO governance across diverse project environments?▼

Yes. Portfolio risk management works across diverse project types and environments by standardizing risk identification, impact criteria, and response planning at the PMO level, enabling consistent governance and risk correlation across all active projects.

How do I create a risk mitigation plan from portfolio risk assessment results?▼

Risk-response planning follows risk scoring and severity calculation. Prioritize high-impact risks, assign owners, define mitigation actions with timelines, and document contingency plans. Track execution through RAID logs and adjust responses as portfolio conditions change.

What data do I need to gather before starting portfolio risk assessment?▼

Collect project risk registers from all portfolio projects, historical risk data from past initiatives, stakeholder input on emerging threats, and impact criteria definitions. Define your probability and impact scales (1-5) before Gate 1 risk identification begins.
