What problem does it solve?

UniTask enables zero-allocation async/await patterns in Unity, replacing traditional coroutines and Task-based approaches to reduce GC pressure and improve performance.

Core Features & Use Cases

Allocation-free UniTask patterns for Unity
Coroutine migration and migration patterns
Deterministic execution with PlayerLoop integration
Strong cancellation and memory-management support
Integrations with common Unity systems (Addressables, DOTween, UnityWebRequest)

Quick Start

Replace a coroutine with a simple UniTask example in a MonoBehaviour to observe zero allocations and frame-stable asynchronous execution.

FAQPage Schema

How do I reduce GC pressure from async programming in Unity?▼

You can reduce GC pressure by replacing standard Task-based asynchronous programming with zero-allocation UniTask patterns. This approach eliminates allocation overhead, ensuring frame-stable execution without triggering garbage collection spikes during runtime.

What is the best way to migrate Unity coroutines to async await?▼

The best way to migrate Unity coroutines is by applying UniTask migration patterns within a MonoBehaviour. This transition replaces traditional coroutine structures with zero-allocation async/await workflows, maintaining deterministic execution via PlayerLoop integration.

Do I need to understand cancellation tokens to use UniTask in Unity?▼

Yes, you need to understand cancellation tokens and Unity C# async patterns to use UniTask effectively. The framework provides strong cancellation and memory-management support, requiring prerequisite knowledge of these mechanisms to ensure safe asynchronous execution.

Does UniTask work with Addressables, DOTween, and UnityWebRequest?▼

UniTask works directly with Addressables, DOTween, and UnityWebRequest by providing specific zero-allocation async integration patterns. These integrations allow you to await asset loading, animations, and network requests without generating garbage collection overhead.

How does UniTask achieve frame-accurate timing in Unity?▼

UniTask achieves frame-accurate timing by relying directly on the Unity API surface and PlayerLoop timing. This deterministic execution model ensures asynchronous operations synchronize precisely with the engine's update cycles without allocation delays.
