SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps you understand user behavior over time by analyzing retention and engagement patterns, allowing you to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Core Features & Use Cases

Define Cohorts: Segment users based on acquisition time, behavior, or attributes.
Analyze Retention: Track user retention rates (N-day, weekly, monthly) and identify drop-off points.
Measure Engagement: Monitor key metrics like session frequency, feature usage, and stickiness.
Use Case: Understand why users acquired in January are retained differently than those acquired in February by analyzing their feature usage and session frequency.

Quick Start

Design a cohort analysis to track the retention of users who signed up this week.

Frequently Asked Questions about cohort-analysis

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I analyze user retention and engagement patterns over time?▼

You can track user retention rates by defining cohorts based on acquisition time or behavior, then analyzing N-day, weekly, or monthly retention curves. This method highlights drop-off points and compares cohort performance to identify why different user groups retain differently.

When do I need cohort analysis for product analytics?▼

Yes, you can use this cohort analysis approach for Web and Flutter applications. It scopes application to user behavior tracking across these platforms by measuring engagement metrics and comparing cohort performance using underlying data from Serverpod and ClickHouse.

How do I measure engagement metrics like session frequency for specific user groups?▼

You measure engagement metrics by defining user cohorts and monitoring their session frequency, feature usage, and stickiness over time. This allows you to compare performance between different cohorts, such as users acquired in January versus February, based on their actual behavior.

What is the best way to identify user drop-off points in a retention curve?▼

The best way to identify user drop-off points is by analyzing retention curves within a cohort analysis. By tracking N-day, weekly, or monthly retention rates for users segmented by acquisition time, you can pinpoint exactly when and where engagement declines.
