Frequently Asked Questions about impact-analysis

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How does CMDB change impact analysis map dependencies across business services?▼

CMDB change impact analysis traces CI relationships to map upstream and downstream dependencies, evaluating service criticality to determine how modifications propagate across business services.

How do I generate a CAB-ready risk report for a configuration item change?▼

Run an impact analysis against a target configuration item to produce a structured risk assessment report. This evaluates service criticality and generates CAB-ready documentation linked to the relevant change request.

Can I use impact analysis for incident triage and capacity planning?▼

Yes, impact analysis applies to incident triage and capacity planning. It traces CMDB relationships to identify affected components and services during incidents, and maps downstream dependencies for capacity planning.

What is the best way to identify at-risk services before implementing ITIL change management?▼

Analyze CMDB relationships to identify at-risk services before implementing ITIL changes. This approach evaluates service criticality and traces dependent components to map business impact during change planning.

Do I need a populated CMDB to map service dependencies and business impact?▼

Yes, a populated CMDB is required. The analysis works by traversing CMDB relations between configuration items to evaluate service criticality and map upstream and downstream business impact.
