💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps product teams diagnose and fix retention problems by applying the Fogg B=MAP model (Motivation, Ability, Prompt) and the Tiny Habits framework to locate bottlenecks, anchor tiny actions, and design event-based prompts that endure motivation troughs.

Core Features & Use Cases

Diagnostic framework for Motivation, Ability, and Prompt across activation, engagement, retention, and expansion.
Ability Chain friction audits across Time, Money, Physical Effort, Mental Effort, Social Deviance, and Non-Routine.
Prompt design guidance including Context, Person, and Action prompts, with anchor moments and event-based triggers.
Tiny Habits methodology: Starter Steps, celebration, and scaling patterns to wire durable habits.
Cross-category guidance showing how to adapt B=MAP to SaaS, mobile, health, education, and more.

Quick Start

FAQPage Schema

How do I diagnose user retention problems using behavior design?▼

Diagnose user retention problems by evaluating the B=MAP framework (Motivation, Ability, Prompt) to locate bottlenecks across activation, engagement, and long-term retention scenarios in digital products. This framework isolates whether users lack motivation, face ability friction, or miss prompts.

How do I audit user onboarding friction to improve activation?▼

Audit onboarding friction by evaluating the Ability Chain across Time, Money, Physical Effort, Mental Effort, Social Deviance, and Non-Routine. This behavior design method identifies specific cognitive or structural barriers preventing users from completing core product actions.

What is the best way to design event-based prompts that drive user engagement?▼

Design event-based prompts by defining Context, Person, and Action triggers anchored to existing user routines. This approach uses anchor moments to trigger engagement when motivation naturally troughs, ensuring prompts endure beyond initial product interest.

Can I apply the Tiny Habits framework to SaaS and mobile app retention?▼

Yes, you can apply the Tiny Habits framework to SaaS, mobile apps, web products, health, and education contexts. It provides cross-category guidance for adapting Starter Steps, celebration patterns, and scaling behaviors to wire durable long-term retention habits.

How do I wire durable habits for long-term product retention?▼

Wire durable habits for long-term product retention by identifying a core action, crafting a Starter Step anchored to an existing routine, setting an event-based prompt, and celebrating the initial win. This Tiny Habits methodology scales tiny actions into sustained engagement.
