SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Plan and validate a single, high-value prototype slice that tests the riskiest assumption from upstream reviews, enabling fast learning and course-correction before committing to full development.

Core Features & Use Cases

One recommended slice that tests the riskiest assumption
Clear failure condition to determine whether to pivot
Phase-based planning (Phase 0-Phase 4) aligned to upstream artifacts
Reads upstream reviews to inform the slice plan and next steps
Produces a portable artifact for downstream handoff and telemetry

Quick Start

Review upstream design artifacts and start Phase 0 to plan your slice.

Frequently Asked Questions about prototype-slice-plan

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I plan a prototype slice to test the riskiest gameplay assumption?▼

To plan a prototype slice, identify your riskiest design assumption from upstream reviews and generate a concrete build plan using Phase 0 through Phase 4 workflow to define clear success and failure criteria.

What is a prototype slice in game design and when do I need one?▼

A prototype slice is a single, high-value validation segment designed to test risky design assumptions. You need it to enable fast learning and course-correction before committing to full development.

How do I validate game design risks before committing to full development?▼

You validate game design risks by planning a focused prototype slice that establishes a clear failure condition, allowing you to determine whether to pivot before committing to full development.

Can I use upstream game review artifacts to inform my slice planning?▼

Yes, you can reference upstream artifacts from game-review, player-experience, and balance-review phases to inform your slice plan and prescribe concrete next steps for downstream handoff.

Do I need prior design reviews before starting prototype slice planning?▼

Yes, you need upstream design artifacts from prior game reviews. The planning process reads these upstream reviews to identify the riskiest assumption and generate a complete Prototype Slice Plan artifact.

What's the best way to define failure conditions for a gameplay prototype?▼

The best way to define failure conditions is by aligning Phase 0 through Phase 4 planning with upstream review artifacts, ensuring your slice plan establishes clear criteria to determine whether to pivot.
