SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

ScriptableObject-driven architecture helps Unity teams structure game data, events, and runtime collections, reducing hard-coded dependencies and improving reusability.

Core Features & Use Cases

Data Container patterns using ScriptableObjects to store game-tunable values
Event Channel patterns for decoupled communication between systems
Runtime Set patterns to track live objects across gameplay sessions
Cross-feature data sharing with consistent naming and asset creation

Quick Start

Create a WeaponData-like ScriptableObject using the CreateAssetMenu pattern described here and wire up a data container, an event channel, and a runtime set in a sample scene.

Frequently Asked Questions about uw-scriptable-object-arch

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I use ScriptableObjects to decouple event communication between Unity gameplay systems?▼

ScriptableObject event channels decouple Unity systems by passing data through assets instead of direct references. This Skill generates event channel structures and data containers, enabling modular cross-system orchestration without hard-coded dependencies.

What is the best way to track live game objects across scenes using a ScriptableObject runtime set?▼

A ScriptableObject runtime set tracks live objects across scenes by maintaining a dynamic list of active entities. This Skill generates runtime set patterns to monitor gameplay objects persistently throughout a session without manual scene management.

How do I structure game data for weapons and items using Unity ScriptableObjects?▼

Unity ScriptableObjects structure game data by storing tunable weapon and item values as independent assets. This Skill generates data container patterns using CreateAssetMenu, enforcing PascalCase naming and modular data-driven architectures.

Do I need an Assembly Definition file when building a ScriptableObject architecture in Unity?▼

An Assembly Definition (.asmdef) file is required to isolate the ScriptableObject code. This Skill enforces .asmdef usage and applies architecture_pattern via ProjectConfig.yaml to ensure strict modular compilation boundaries in Unity.

Can I use ScriptableObject data containers to share tunable values across multiple Unity features?▼

ScriptableObject data containers share tunable values across Unity features through asset references instead of hardcoded prefabs. This Skill generates cross-feature data sharing architectures, enforcing consistent CreateAssetMenu patterns for reliable data access.

Why use ScriptableObject-driven architecture instead of direct references for modular Unity game development?▼

ScriptableObject-driven architecture reduces hard-coded dependencies by utilizing data containers and event channels for communication. This Skill generates modular structures for game data systems, improving reusability and decoupling across Unity gameplay features.
